Exciting “Friendship Tournament 2010” ends at Cap Cana Marina

Enrique Ricart, won first place in the Top Angler category, accumulating 1,500 points, winning also attractive prizes from sponsors, including two round trip tickets to Europe aboard Air France. The second highest score went to Elias Ignacio Cruz and third place was achieved by American Carson Cone.

During the 2 days of fishing over 50 anglers aboard 15 different vessels competed in the categories of Best Boat, Top Angler and Top Team.  “Los Comodoros,” made up of veteran Dominican anglers: Enrique and Miguel Ricart and Elias Ignacio Cruz took home first place in the category of Top Team by earning 4,500 points.  With more than 6 Blue Marlin released in the 2 day competition, the group took home a check worth 1 Million Dominican Pesos, or about US$27,000.  . Following in the second position, MTP team, with 1.500 points, composed by Samuel Conde, Carlos Ascuasiati and Carson Cone. The third place went to the team "PGP", with 500 points and composed by Martin Medina, Cullen Cone and Arthur Santana.

The first blue marlin was released by Eduardo Ignacio Cruz in St. Elias vessel, while the latter corresponded to Patrick Koff in the vessel “Beyaca”.  In the Best Video category, the winner was Martin Medina, from the vessel Grace.

The vessel with the highest score was  "Caramba" with 1,500 points, while  St Elias" anchored in second with the same score, and "Lazy Bones" came in third. The first place for Best Boat  was boarded by Enrique Ricart, and José Leon. In the "St. Elias" sailed Elias Ignacio Cruz, Freddy Zapata and Carlos Leon and in the boat "Lazy Bones", Evelio Mederos  and the ladies, Ana and Beatriz Mederos. Similarly awards were given to the first three places in the category Best crew boats.

The event, organized by Cap Cana Marina and the Club Náutico of Santo Domingo, took place from last Thursday at the spectacular Cap Cana Marina   In those two days of activities, we saw action from powered vessels and anglers from local yacht clubs as well as the neighboring island of Puerto Rico and the United States.
 
After completing the verification of the released blue marlin, the organizing committee proceeded to the awards ceremony, led by Mr. Ellis Perez, Vice President of Communications and Public Relations of Cap Cana and Mr. José Luis Ochoa, Club Nautico de Santo Domingo Tournament Director.  This award ceremony took place at Il Cappuccino, restaurant located at the Marina in this important real estate and tourism destination.

During the award ceremony, members of the Board of the Club Nautico of Santo Domingo awarded plaques of recognition to the Tournament Director, Mr. José Luis Ochoa and Dr. Ricardo Hazoury, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Cap Cana, and thanked for the support offered during this competition’s celebration.
