Dominican Republic (DR) Ministry of Tourism Presents The Cap Cana Championship March 22-28

“The prestigious Cap Cana Championship provides breathtaking views of the Caribbean Sea and lush green vistas of the Punta Espada Golf Club,” said Dominican Republic Minister of Tourism Francisco Javier Garcia. “The Dominican Republic is heaven on earth for golf with 25 championship courses earning top honors for their magnificent design amid azure seas, white-sand beaches and world-class resorts. More than 86 million world-wide viewers will be treated to the tournament airing on the GOLF CHANNEL.”

“The Cap Cana Championship at Punta Espada underscores the Dominican Republic’s solid stature as the top golf destination in the Caribbean and Latin America,” said Dr. Ricardo Hazoury, President of Cap Cana’s Board of Directors. “The direct economic impact is substantial for the weeks surrounding the professional golf tournament, but the worldwide exposure will encourage golf enthusiasts to visit and play golf here for years to come.”

Boasting seven courses among Golfweek’s Best Courses list, the DR’s top ranked Punta Espada will host 78 Champions Tour players throughout the week. The event features a $1.6 million purse and $240,000 for this year’s winner. GOLF CHANNEL will provide live coverage of the tournament on March 26 from 12:30 - 2:30 p.m. EDT and March 27 and 28 from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. EDT.
