During this encounter, Mr. Mike Stevens, President of the PGA TOUR's Champions Tour stated that “The Champions Tour continues to grow as a global brand establishing a strong presence worldwide that is essential for the continued success of the Champions Tour. We have been able to capitalize on our success in celebrating The Cap Cana Championship during the last two years in the Dominican Republic because it has enabled us to continue with the strategy of expanding the Champions Tour to countries such as South Korea and Canada in 2010.”  “The Cap Cana Championship is a great example of the recognition that has allowed our brand and our players to occupy important positions worldwide”, he added.

On the other hand, Mr. Efrén García-Estrada, Director of The Cap Cana Championship gave specific names of other players who have already confirmed their attendance this year.  He highlighted that the majority of the players rank among the 2009 best golfers. On the other hand, Dr. Ricardo Hazoury, President of the Board of Directors of Cap Cana stated that with this type of event Cap Cana contributes to the continuous consolidation of the Dominican Republic as the first golf destination in the Caribbean and Latin America.  “We feel committed to promote golf as a complement to our tourism offer because during recent years this as been a sector of great growth and demand and because it is high level tourism,” he added.

Once again “The Cap Cana Championship” will be viewed around the world through the Golf Channel international coverage for North America, Europe and the Caribbean as well as through ESPN Latin America reaching more than 86 million viewers in 112 countries. This communication media will portrait how attractive the Dominican Republic is as a golf destination.

As in every year, “The Cap Cana Championship” will offer a vast array of sports and social activities.   The PRO-AM Tournament will take place during March 24-25 and both national and international amateur players will have the opportunity to share experiences with a professional player. The exciting PGA TOUR´S Champions Tour will be held from March 26 to 28.

The participants will put their best shot to test for a US$240,000 winner's prize for the winner and a total prize fund of US$1,600,000.  The 54-hole competition will be played under the modality of Stroke-Play.

To respond to the needs of the people of Haiti after the January 12th earthquake, this year, The Cap Cana Championship decided to hold a social initiative and held an auction on eBay which contributed with US$19,100,00 managed by the Clinton-Bush foundation for those affected by the catastrophe.
