Successful Golf Tournament Punta Espada "Member/Guest"

The main attraction this year was the opportunity to play the first nine holes of the second signature golf course Jack Nicklaus design, Las Iguanas. This golf course with its beautiful lakes  incorporated in each of the holes, gave the members of the Punta Espada golf a different and unique experience.

Cap Cana, October 12, 2009.For the third consecutive year, the spectacular Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course in Cap Cana, hosted the traditional golf tournament "Member / Guest", which took place on  October 10-11,  2009. This occasion brought together members and their guests, many from Puerto Rico, Canada, USA and Venezuela, who each year awaits the conclusion of this tournament.

As part of the event, Mark Clouse, Director of the Punta Espada Golf said: "The conclusion of the tournament Member / Guest, has become the most anticipated event by all members of the Punta Espada Golf Club, who reserve this date in advance to participate in this important event. " He added that "this tournament is important for our team,  as  it enables us to strengthen ties with each of them, and this is why we strive to make them feel at home."

As a main attraction this year, players were given the exclusivity to play  the first nine golf holes of Las Iguanas, the second  Jack Nicklaus signature design golf course at Cap Cana, which has 70% of its construction  completed  and it is expected to start its formal operation late next year. Punta Espada Club members expressed their pleasure  in  experiencing a game in such waited for golf course.  

They added that  as far as they can see, this is a different and particularly challenging golf course for golf lovers.   They said, they are confident that like the Punta Espada,  it  will become one of the most  reknowned in the region and the world."

The players enjoyed a tournament under the scramble mode, which gave them the opportunity to demonstrate their progress in the game and improve their scores from the previous year.

During the weekend, it was developed a social event calendar that allowed all players to share out the playing field. Social activities marked the start with a welcome cocktail at the peak of tourist development, Faith Farallon Restaurant.

In the international sports tournament, the  winners in different categories were: ARNOLD PALMER FLIGHT: Tim Ford and Arthur Valdez, GREG NORMAN FLIGHT: Bill Kenworthy and John Ryan, BEN HOGAN FLIGHT: Ray Ehrhardt and Gregg Hanson. And in the category  Fred Couples FLIGHT, who were  female, Pamela Hanson and Deb Ehrhardt were the winners.

The weekend concluded with an awards dinner,  for the different categories which was held at the Restaurant located in the fascinating Caletón beach club

This Weekend’s Golf Tournament "Member / Guest" is already a family tradition at  Punta Espada Golf Club in Cap Cana.
