Celebrating the successful Pro-Am of "The Cap Cana Championship"

With great success and enthusiasm between amateur and professional golfers alike, the “Cap Cana Championship” Pro-Am concluded after two full days of spectacular emotion and surpassed expectations.

With a rain period on the second day causing a brief delay, prevailing winds and tough conditions proved to be the main challenges which confronted players, all eager to take to the Punta Espada golf course designed by Jack Nicklaus.  

The Pro-Am awards ceremony was held in the Champions Club alongside the 18th hole, and was attended by the amateur players, sponsors of the tournament, directors of Cap Cana and the PGA Champions Tour, as well as related mass media. The presentation was ceremoniously hosted by Dr. Ricardo Hazoury, Rick George, and Efren Garcia.  

Ricardo Hazoury congratulated all players in the Pro-Am, adding his sincere remarks for the contribution and sense of spirit provided by each participant, happily setting the foundation for a successful Cap Cana Championship.

On day one of the Pro-Am, the group headed by the professional Massy Kuramoto, consisting of amateurs Luis Felipe González, Sandra De González, José Maria Barquin, and Paz Madariga placed first on the fist day of the PRO-AM with a solid score of 55.  Second place was awarded to German Bernhard Langer and amateurs Eugene Ángel, Robert Gooseman, Fran Bishop y David Schweitzer with 57. Third place went to Gene Jones along with amateurs Juan Puig, Valentin Caila, Juan Monzo Lacuela and Fernando Molina with 58. 

The second day saw the winning team led by professional Jim Thorpe and amateurs Calixto Gabriel, Leo Sanchez, Héctor Fernandez and Jose Hernandez, finishing with 58 points; Professional Craig Stadler, along with Eugene Angel, Robert Gooseman, Fran Bishop and David Levy finished with 60 points in second place; and third place went to Sandy Lyle and the amateur group of Michael Roston, David Levy, Kart Bevacqua and Ronald Swanson with 61 points.
